A Cup of Joe at Alfred’s: Just a Little Too Fancy
Cute signs always get me.
“But first, coffee.”
Coffee shops have always been one of my favorite places to go hangout and relax. Regardless of the time of year, whether I am alone or with friends, I have always loved them. One of my favorite spots to go to in Richmond was Lamplighter Coffee Roasters. With its exposed brick walls, big windows, and wooden detailing, it gave the ultimate “cozy coffee shop” vibe. It was a great place to go to study or to catch up with a friend. They also have delicious lattes, which is my go-to order. This week, I decided that it was time to try out a coffee shop in Austin that could potentially be comparable to Lamplighter Coffee Roasters.
After doing some browsing online, I decided to venture out to Alfred Coffee, which is located in a hotel on East Caesar Chavez Street. I ordered a latte and a sandwich, and I can honestly say that I enjoyed the sandwich more than the latte. I didn’t love it, but I didn’t hate it. The latte had a bit too much milk in it, but it wasn’t terrible. On the other hand, the sandwich was fantastic. I got the ham and cheese sandwich, which included mustard vinaigrette and house-made pickles on a baguette. It was simple, but so delicious.
I would recommend Alfred’s to anyone that is looking for a nice place to have a meeting regarding work, or even as a place to meet a friend that you have not seen in a while. I enjoyed my overall experience there, but it is not somewhere I will go back to.
The hunt for my cozy, inviting and hipster-y coffee shop in Austin will continue.
