Travel? Transferring? Texas?

Change.

It’s something we all go through—something we all must endure. It’s part of growing up, and it shapes who we are. Change has been a constant throughout my life.

My dad is in the military, and his job requires a change of location about every two years. Moving every two years of my life has shaped me into who I am today. Living in 9 states and two countries has given me a greater appreciation for the world around me and the people that inhabit it. It has given me a deep-rooted desire to see the world and to learn as much about it as possible. Learning about different cultures and different ways of life is my favorite thing to do.

This lifestyle has had its setbacks. I had never truly known what it feels like to know a place as “home” until living in Richmond, Virginia from 2018-2019. I fell in love with the city, and I met some amazing people that made a great impact on my life. In March 2019, my dad was given a new duty assignment—Fort Hood, Texas. This was surprising news, but my time in Richmond was over and I was ready for the change.

After touring some schools and deciding moving with my family was the best option, I decided to transfer to Texas State University. Texas State is close to Austin, a city that I have always been curious to explore. This leads me to what this blog is going to encompass—my transition to a new city.

I am looking forward to exploring, and finding new spots to enjoy. I had a favorite restaurant, coffee shop, art museum, and concert venue in Richmond, and I am going to make it a goal to find those places in Austin. I will include links to my new favorite spots on my Twitter, as well as updates on this site. This blog is for those that live in the area looking to seek insight on some local spots, and for those back home that are curious as to what I am up to in Texas.

I am looking forward to finding my place in a new place.
